This short story about two witches - mother and daughter - is well written and inspiring, as well as entertaining to read. Like the author says in his introduction: "This story is about magic, love, grief, madness and everything in between." Is it fantasy or mystery? I think it’s both.
I like witches. Time ago when I was 20-years old like Amelia West, I tried to convince my friends (and myself) that I was a witch and had magical powers. Nobody believed in my fantasy, but still today, I love stories about magic, witches, and sorcerers.
Amelia West is a true witch, but first, she doesn’t know about her magic powers.
The characters are believable and remind me of the TV series "The Originals", which I also like very much. Alexander Starr succeeded in creating a suspenseful twist with just a few compelling protagonists. The story is truly thrilling, and I didn't take the book down til the last page. I really wanted to know how the story ended. I won't tell you of course, but there is a meaningful message behind.
I guess there will be another book and it'll become a series.
This creative and original short story is entirely worth it. If you like novels about witches and mystery, just read it, and not only on Halloween.

A really good set but the proofing was absolutely awful. One of the worst I've seen. This detracted from the really good stories. Shame
I downloaded this book on a whim because it was on kindle unlimited, I read a lot of short stories and mysteries and I thought this would help pass the time in the waiting room. It is the story of a mother & daughter who are witches and their fight against a male witch who wants to use their powers. Without giving the story away, the book takes you through the events of about nine months and the male witches attempt to perform a particular dark magic ritual. The male witch is particularly creepy and quite disturbing and I like the way the book was written with dates, so you could follow the story easily without getting confused. Also, I quite liked the daughter witch, the story gave a real sense of her confusion and disbelief. It is quite short, so about a 30-minute read and there is the promise of more stories to come.
I would recommend this quick read if you have some time to spare.
This is an extremely fun and engaging story that takes the reader through a wide array of emotions as Amelia, the main character in the story, seeks to pursue familial secrets. The characters in this story are very well developed, which makes it exciting and filled with mystery and intrigue. This book weaves a tale of love and magic, of emotions in turmoil, of insanity and normality. As the story unfolds, you can feel the emotional rollercoaster as it takes you through the complete gamut of human emotions. In the end, the resolution in the story illustrates the power of positive magic and how love wins out.
Entertaining read
A serial killer needs a little magic to bring back the woman he wants from the dead so he kidnaps her daughter. Mom is not about to let this happen and will do whatever ghost can do to save her daughter.
i love the book. i am always fascinated with witches. over all i am inspired. the plot is about mother and daughter witches. i have a deep relationship with my mother and this book gave insight on meaning of love and sadness.
If it had been a full length story. But I'm afraid that a mere 33 pages just can't accomplish enough. I didn't have sufficient time to get to know the characters, and the plot suspense also suffered.
