Because of You A Coming Home Novel Book 1 edition by Jessica Scott Romance eBooks

The writing was well rounded. The characters were well developed and complex. It didn't matter if it was a primary or secondary character. They all had so much personality.

There was no instalove, just a strong attraction between Shane and Jen that developed over time. All of the couples had struggles that they needed to work through. This was not your average sweetness and light romance, but it definitely provided you with an HEA. I was pulled in from the first page and stayed engaged to the very end. If I had one complaint, it would be that I would have enjoyed more of Shane and Jen's relationship after the broke through their barriers.

I am looking forward to reading about what happens with Trent and Laura.

Because of You A Coming Home Novel Book 1 edition by Jessica Scott Romance eBooks Reviews

Since others have described the story so well and in detail, I will not go there. This is an amazing book. Jessica Scott pulls you in to the characters world through outstanding character development. Her characters are alive and authentic. Their problems matter. The primary (Jen and Shane) and secondary characters in this novel are so well developed, this is a moving, authentic and believable story because the author writes about what she know (military personell and what life in the military is like both for the service men and women as well as their families and military friends).

While Because of You is a heavily emotional story, it is also about what love can do and what is possible through love. It is also peppered with laugh out loud humor. Some have described the story as depressing, I didn't see that. What I saw was the beginning of redemption, because of love. That is not to say that love has caused all the problems to vanish because that is not the case. But healing has begun and will continue in the next book in this outstanding series.

I discovered this author less than two weeks ago and confess I have read every book in this series and am anticipating the release April 7, 2015 of the newest book in the series. Treat yourself to an incredible reading adventure by reading every book in this series, you will not be sorry and your life will be richer for this exposure!
This book is based on a great idea that you don't often see in romance novels what happens when two people who were relatively young and healthy have to deal with illnesses/physical wounds that alter how they see themselves and how others might potentially see them. The heroine is a nurse and a breast cancer survivor who had a mastectomy; the hero is a Wounded Warrior who returns from Iraq with severe wounds that impairs his mobility and requires him to rethink how he views himself. The two come together when the hero is wounded and the heroine has to nurse him to health.

The author clearly knows a lot about military life and what havoc multiple deployments can wreak not only on individuals but on families. She does an excellent job depicting the depression, and PTSD that soldiers experience as well as the survivor's guilt that many soldiers experience when they lose friends on the battlefield. I think the weaker part of the book is the chemistry between the hero/heroine; I just couldn't feel the passion between the two of them. When the hero tells the heroine he loves her, I was actually surprised, it felt more like they were coming together because they were lonely, and had something in common, but I definitely did not get the sense that they were in love. I am assuming that this might be the first book by this author and so I will definitely read another book by her because the premise is good, but like some of her characters, she just needs a little more experience.
This is my new favorite series. I don't quite understand some of the other reviews. Yes, there's angst. These are soldiers in the Iraqi war, the war that apparently will never end. If there's angst it's because that's the way it is. I found it realistic. War is hell and it's hell on everyone involved, especially families. Our government isn't doing a very good job of supporting these families and soldiers. I didn't feel as if the first book left me hanging. It's obviously part of a series. Sure there were unanswered questions but the story of Shane and Jen was complete. I just had to find out what happened to Trent though so after reading Book 1.5 I jumped to Book 3. Which was very good, by the way. I don't give 5 stars often but Jessica Scott is an excellent writer (although she needs to find a synonym for 'threading') and her story is true to life. I will end up buying all her books and actually paying full price for them, something I very rarely do.
Well this was a surprise. I enjoyed this book, enjoyed the story line.. I'm a sucker for romance and this was a different kind,, it wasn't roses and fancy things.. It was a simple man who loved his job.. His men and would do anything for them.. He was their leader and he was also the one to solve or be there for his guys... Before he leaves to go to Iraq for a year.. He goes out.. He's now divorced with nothing and is forced to spend his last night in a bar and meets someone he has a connection with... A passionate kiss later he's gone... But after a few hiccups... He's back.. But he's not... He's wounded and so are a few of his men.. Devastation.. It was interesting to read the thought process of Shane and what he felt.. I enjoyed Jen who was perfect for him having to endure change herself with her body.. They both healed each other in more ways then one.. And they both loved each other unconditionally.. It took time but they got there. What's didn't like was the abrupt ending... It was like they made some grounds got together finally confessed love and then... We r at the epilogue.. There was another story going on with Laura and Trent that I'm very curious about but nothing.. Not even the second book is about them which would've been perfect! Anyway.. All in all it was good.
